LA GRÈVE
Misogyny has been gnawing away at us since childhood. It subjugates us, it drenches and overwhelms us, it corners us, imprisons us, and locks us away. And it has been doing so for centuries.
Drawing on the words of Ovidie, who, in *La chair est triste hélas* (2023), denounces the dictates of heterosexuality and puts an end to her sexual relationships with men, the film presents symbolic and evocative images. It is a multifaceted collage—drawing on everything from unlikely archival footage to outdated advertisements—that brings to light a collective memory of how women are viewed: the irony overflows, challenges, and captivates.
A creative and humorous take on a powerful text, where the mundane intertwines with violence, and where deconstruction is pursued with all one’s might.
