Geneva City LGBTIQ+ Memories Award

The festival presents the LGBTIQ+ Memories Award. This Perfect Award comes with a prize of CHF 3,000, funded by the City of Geneva, Agenda 21 – Sustainable City Service. Its aim is to promote the history of LGBTIQ+ people and movements.

Since its creation, Everybody’s Perfect has screened films depicting a shared past, fundamental struggles to gain rights, and pioneering figures: models and sources of inspiration for future generations. The aim is to recognise and pass on LGBTIQ+ experiences, at a time when they are threatened with being erased or even demonised. These films build a substantial body of work that deserves to be highlighted, in order to continue the pursuit of equality guaranteed throughout the world.

“I believe that telling our stories, first to ourselves, then to each other, and finally to the world, is a revolutionary act,” writes Janet Mock.

A three-person jury – one cinema expert, one representative of the City of Geneva, and one specialist in history and archives – will award the trophy to one of the feature films in the programme, documentary or fiction. This award encourages the production of such films, highlights the commitment of the City of Geneva, and showcases LGBTIQ+ history as an integral part of the history of our societies.
