First in French-speaking Switzerland, the Everybody’s Perfect festival has been showcasing global LGBTIQ+ expressions (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer) since its creation in 2010.
Every year in October, at the Cinémas du Grütli in Geneva (CH), the Everybody’s Perfect festival takes place over 10 days, built around major themes relating to LGBTIQ+ people. A key feature of the festival is its discussion and meeting evenings, with expert·x·es present to address the issues raised, with the support and collaboration of our local and international partners, associations and institutions.
Cinema includes all forms of art, and at Everybody’s Perfect, it interacts with them… through performances, exhibitions, workshops, music and festive evenings, the festival frees up forms of expression and allows everyone to share their feelings and explore their identities.
why an lgbtiq+ film festival?
A committed artistic event encourages social connections, encounters, creativity and helps advance thinking. The festival contributes to the expression, defence and exploration of human rights. It is an essential form of political action for building society together, fully in line with the mission of the Rainbow Cities Network – of which Geneva is a member.
The festival restores cinema to its full splendour and power: its enveloping darkness… its imposed rhythm… cinema offers audiences the unlikely adventure of rediscovering their childlike self or experiencing the dreamlike world with their eyes wide open. Finally, films fulfil the natural search for identification and the need for escape.
Because sexual and gender minorities have no other cultural event of this scale in Geneva.
Because citizens have a deep desire to actively contribute to the progress of global society, and society grows and is built, among other things, through cinema and the encounters it creates.
Because culture in this form and with this strength is vital to everyone.
Because the programme of films from around the world responds to the desire of audiences belonging to international Geneva, whom we want to see more present.
in synergy with its partners
Every year, the Everybody’s Perfect festival forms partnerships with LGBTIQ+ associations involved at regional and international level. The festival therefore provides an opportunity to highlight the work carried out on the ground by these organisations for a wide audience. Active in a wide range of fields such as health, social connections, migration, artistic expression, discrimination, research, etc., they find in the festival a means of promotion, outreach and creating opportunities for encounters.
Everybody’s Perfect thus multiplies its communication channels and broadens its audiences.
For any partnership request, please send an email to info{at}everybodysperfect.ch before 1 May each year.
supported by an ever-growing audience
Everybody’s Perfect has become a key event in Geneva’s social and cultural landscape. It responds to the expectations and needs of all those who are closely or indirectly interested in the many LGBTIQ+ issues. In 2018, festival attendance increased by 54%.
