WORKSHOP : l’émancipation du cinéma queer
What do movies tell us?!
The screenwriter.. that creative force who decides the fate of the characters on screen, has, for many, many years, mistreated queer characters. Either they are saddled with flaws and burdens, steering them toward failure or plunging them into torments of tragedy. Does this current decade mark the end of gloomy fates?
This workshop explores the narrative arcs of queer characters in fiction films, from the origins of cinema to the present day, so that (we hope) happy endings take hold in the realm of queer cinema.
Films clips and live interaction with the audience explore how queer cinema has evolved and is evolving.
hosted by Didier Roth-Bettoni, author, journalist, and historian of queer cinema
