soirée de danse country queer
Break out your cowboy boots!
This dance party is sure to be a blast. It will feature short dance lessons (about 20 minutes each), followed by open dance time for partner and line dancing.
Come join us! Especially if you don’t know how to dance.
No dress code! Cowboy boots, sneakers, heels, or any other comfortable shoes for dancing.
Country western dancing was dangerous for many queer people until the 1990s. Since then, resistance to heteronormativity and teaching these dance styles to LGBTQIA+ people have made it possible to celebrate connections with oneself and with the community!
