(Atelier)
90 min.
dance workshop for everyone!
After an introduction to the queer history of dance, an analysis of steps and basics, followed by spins and dips, try out the dance steps you’ve learned! You don’t need to bring a partner, and you don’t need to know how to dance!
Country western dancing was dangerous for many queer people until the 1990s. Since then, resistance to heteronormativity and teaching these dance styles to LGBTQIA+ people have made it possible to celebrate connections with oneself and with the community!
