Modeled after philosophy cafés, the film café is a new gathering for discussion and film appreciation centered on a specific theme. Led by a facilitator, the discussion allows participants to come together in a small group and deepen their reflections on cinema.

How has cinema shaped our lives or influenced our choices?
Given that cinema reflects the society that produces it, and considering the derogatory portrayals of LGBTIQ+ characters throughout its history, we can legitimately question the way we have viewed ourselves. Didn’t we view ourselves as sick or crazy? Didn’t we stay in the closet for fear of resembling the monsters depicted on our screens? Or to avoid becoming that caricature from *La Cage aux Folles* or *Gazon Maudit*…
Did we change the way we existed in the world because of cinema? Or perhaps these crypto-gay images also fueled the most thrilling fantasies? How many feelings were repressed and how many passions were stifled so as not to betray the desires stirred up by the screen? And at the same time, how many coming-outs or declarations of love were encouraged by the strength of the protagonists?
