ORLANDO
Virginia Woolf’s famous novel adapted here as a monologue, combining narrative, music, and addresses to the audience. Léa Pohlhammer plays Orlando, a character who traverses centuries and genders, in a minimalist setting with lighting inspired by the painter William Turner. The show explores freedom of interpretation, identity, and femininity, weaving together quotes from the novel, music, humor, physical theater, and anecdotal digressions to question social norms and our relationship to gender.”
As part of the 2025-2026 season of Les Scènes du Grütli, entitled Les Racines du Ciel (The Roots of Heaven) “because it is performed in this particular place where there is a tension between dazzlement and fall, between matter and mystery, between the world as it is and what the arts allow us to say about it—to dream again.”
