LES REINES DU DRAME
In 2005, Mimi Madamour, a young pop idol, experiences a tumultuous romance with Billie Kohler, a queer punk icon. They are the symbol of an entire generation. This duo, which drives crowds wild, is followed by their main groupie, Steevyshady, a heavily botoxed YouTuber who narrates their passion, their desire for fame, and their downfall.
With an excellent queer cast, including Bilal Hassani, Gio Ventura, Alma Jodorowsky…, and a soundtrack by Rebeka Warrior, this post-pop musical film glorifies kitsch and criticizes the normative star system and queerphobic society that creates toxic behaviors. This original debut work exudes a contagious eccentricity that makes you want to sing the film’s hit song at the top of your lungs: “Hands off, hands off, if you want my mouth!”
