CONCERNING MY DAUGHTER 딸에 대하여
When Oh, a widow, sees her daughter Green, a teacher, move into her house with her partner, she makes no secret of her disapproval. She then throws herself into her work as a caregiver, where she devotes herself to a retired woman, a former protector of orphaned children, who has been overcome by poverty and dementia. While Green openly stands up for a gay colleague, the tension with her mother takes an unexpected turn.
A skillfully tense story of combative women, an elegant plea for tolerance and solidarity, and an implicit portrait of Korean society, this film offers a progressive political message. A refined, sharp, and subtle debut work that captivates with its absolute delicacy.
