Tyler est une jeune femme vivant chez sa mère autoritaire et capricieuse. Lorsqu’elle apprend la mort de son père, qu’elle n’a jamais connu, elle décide de se rendre dans l’appartement qu’il lui lègue. Une nouvelle porte s’ouvre alors pour elle et les questionnements s’accumulent. La personnalité de son père, son entourage, son héritage : comment être et s’identifier au milieu de l’inconnu ? À quel moment le passé prend-il fin ? Teinté d’une touche de fantastique, entre réalité et fantasme, le film explore le queer sous quelques-unes de ses multiples acceptions. Pour son deuxième long-métrage derrière la caméra, l’actrice de Shortbus et Hedwig and the Angry Inch aborde la fluidité de genre et les espaces de transition avec une singularité captivante. Et le plaisir de retrouver le talent de Rosanna Arquette…
