Blocs de béton, brume et ciel bas : le paysage polonais impose une atmosphère à la fois empesée, impénétrable et magnétique. Baigné.es dans leur quotidien, Nina est professeure, son mari gère un garage automobile, ils appartiennent à la classe aisée catholique traditionnelle. Depuis le temps, chacun.e a oublié de ressentir ensemble. Le couple décide, pense et fait parce que les choses sont ainsi, parce qu’il le faut. Une même jeune femme rencontrée par chacun.e des deux pourra-t-elle changer cette implacable accoutumance ? Elle va surtout devenir un révélateur de leur ambivalence. Le dérangeant émerge alors. Porté par un rythme lancinant, plongé dans un bain rouge lumineux, le film est une épure grave et esthétique, où la moindre étincelle de désir envoûte. Quand l’habitude de la carence décuple la vibration retrouvée, c’est une libération intégrale de soi. Une œuvre fascinante qui étreint.
