Conférence suivie d’un échange avec le public
Interrogeons le coeur même d’un festival de films à thématique queer : la représentation de personnages LGBTIQ à l’écran. En s’intéressant à la période classique hollywoodienne, la conférence démontre comment les lois de censure contre la représentation d’identités non- hétérosexuelles ont été contournées et quels stratagèmes ont permis de défier cette mise au placard. Contrairement à ce que l’on pourrait penser, nombreux sont les personnages incarnant une sexualité gay ou lesbienne. Souvent stigmatisés, ils sont également présentés comme charismatiques et fascinants, permettant de contester habilement les normes de genre traditionnelles fondées sur la logique binaire du féminin/masculin. À travers des extraits tirés de films classiques, cette intervention met en évidence l’ambiguïté du cinéma classique hollywoodien vis-à-vis des identités queer.
