L’artiste Paul Harfleet a écrit et illustré le livre Pansy Boy, publié en 2017. Une poésie autobiographique rédigée en vers et ornée de dessins minutieusement détaillés, contant l’histoire d’un jeune garçon rêveur qui se délecte des merveilles de la flore et de la faune. Effrayé par l’école, où il est victime d’harcèlement, il imagine un stratagème pour recréer enfin un environnement sûr. Passionné par les détails de la nature, les fleurs et les oiseaux, Paul Harfleet a composé les planches du livre à l’encre sur papier, traitant chaque pétale et chaque plume comme une œuvre délicate à part entière. Ce fourmillement de motifs révèle une puissance colorée et fascinante.
L’exposition est une mise en scène des planches illustrées de Pansy Boy, imprimées en diverses dimensions. Des fresques monumentales couvrent les murs, des dessins originels encadrés découvrent de délicieux monochromes au stylo sur papier, des reproductions de ses œuvres en grand format magnifient le trait sûr de l’artiste.
Inspiré des salons d’époque, Paul Harfleet transforme la salle en un cocon immersif, un « Pansy Boy Paradise ».
